I am back after a lekka hectic weekend.
Where should I start?? Mmmm? Friday 26 July 2013 Potjiekis competition
at Head Quarters.
The problem with sulke events is always that one question.............wie is die gaarste op die einde van die event? The team or the potjie, and I am not referring to the sun. HaHa. I was tasked to see that breakfast was served so I made some Vetkoek met jam. My first time ever making a Vetkoek, not to bad thought.
The potjie went very well and we had a lot of fun, even the
master chef competition were in our favour. Although we did not win the first
prise for our potjies, we did win the “Potjie with the most potential” reward.
I was also handed my reward for the best Risk Controller at
the projects team.......wow!!!!
So this was an awesome day.........but far from over.
Enough about the potjie, let’s get down to the interesting
stuff. From the potjie (with a belly
half full of bear) I left to JHB for the Monthly “Critical Mass JHB”. My first
time doing this oukie. So I arrived there at about 18h00 and it started MOS at 17h15.
Not knowing anyone or how it works, I soon figured it out.......just get on
your bike (or anything with a seat and pedals in this case) and trap saam met
die bondle. Follow the boombox and all is well.
Not sure what the intention of the “Critical Mass JHB” was,
I asked around and it was stated that we are doing this every last Friday of
the month to make a statement and to promote awareness regarding cyclists on
our roads. Awesome idée I think. So with
a soon to be filled with beer stomach we ride up and down the streets of JHB,
some areas a bit more scary than other though. But overall, great fun. One
lesson learned from this one, never do it alone, it suckssssss!!!!. Go with
someone and have fun. That’s what it’s all about.
The highlight off course was the Mandela Bridge. The
coloured liggies was phenomenal.
