Een boer maakt een plan

So that was Robin.........LOL. love that part in "How I met your Mother" Irrelevant thought.

So I went to lydenburg this past weekend. Getting up on Saturday morning, I went for my morning run as planned at Gustav Klingbiel Nature Reserve. A lekka 10km uphill 440m accent to the top and then all the way down again. Klink somma lekker.

The weather was awesome for running, fog with mist rain. Super combination. I once again realised what effort is needed to be a solo adventurer. One have to push yourself beyond your thresholds for no one else will push you through. Your mindset must be programmed and monitored (convinced) continuously.

When I feel tired I just take a two step break and then the questions in my head drives me crazy.........Are you walking Pierre???? For real???? Is this how you plan to practice???? How are you ever gonna get fit like this???? Are you walking for life? If not, pick up your lazy asss legs and freeken run forest run!!!!!.      So how is that not motivational? It works for me. LOL

Right, enough motivation for one post. I tackled the road down to the start, lekker downhill all the way. Before I continue........you need to know the following. I did a run at Groenkloof last Sunday, did the 15km run twice. First time with my new solomons (Speedcross 3's)

Flippen nice tekkies thought but I had blisters on my toes (Toes next to my big toe, both sides) and that was not lekka. My conclusion was that my socks are the problem for my tekkie is one size bigger and do provide enough toe space. So I decided to do my next run without socks just to compare the options. And this was it.

So on the uphill I could feel my left little toe grinding against the side of the tekkie but still manageable with a good sense of humor I suppose. Back to the downhill......whilst motoring down the path I could hear my little toe screaming for help, as if it was dipped in lava or something. Ignoring the cry for help I just kept on pushing until the universe put a mental stop sign in the middle of the path 5km before the end.

I removed my tekkie with n crow bar only to find that the blister has disintegrated and left a red dot in its place.

And that where the "Een boer maakt een plan" comes in. I cant continue like this and need to wrap it with something, luckily I did not bring my first aid bag. Looking for anything usable around me like an old plastic or something........where is the litter when you need it LOL. Digging in my back pack I found an old chocolate wrap, just the thing for Sannie.........so I used it for its purpose...wrapping.

And off we go, disinfected with a sweet taste. LMAO!!!!

Lessons learned:

  • The most expensive tekkie isn't always the comfortable one
  • Always but always carry first aid equipment with you
  • It does help to run without socks although it is not recommended
  • Never clean your backpack for you never know what you will need (Ya right)
And that was my 2nd run. Jippppie.
Till later then.

With a sweet taste............till the next one. Chow.

ps. any advice on how to run in this freeken tekkies????????

  1. Solomons are very nice shoes, but if you have got wide "dung" trappers like me, go for a wider shoe.

You doing great man, the racing snakes will have to watch out for you.
