Day 7. Rhodes to Slaapkranz

And nog pushing

What an amazing day. We had a lot of fun. It was quite a long ride 108km but not that much of mountaineering. The rode out from Rodes was long and monotonous. then a few lekka downhills and some portages. We were warned about todays interim stop "Chesney Wold". The hospitality of the folks are so addictive that it's almost impossible to leave after lunch. We were seated and soup was served with lekker home baked bread, then suddenly from nowhere this massive lasagna appeared and how do one say no to warm lasagna?????,,,,, so we ditched in and eat, and then the pumpkin cookies arrived (freshly from the oven) whattttt????
Mmmmm nog kos (lasagna)

At the bottom of our last portage I had the opportunity to enter the "spookhuis" abandoned farm house at Spitskop. Inside was the murals painted by a travelling Italian. This was amazing for the wall building is falling apart but the paintings remain.

Old Spookhuis
From there it was a bumpy ride on the old jeep track till we hit the farm track.  Arriving at Slaapkranze the people there were amazingly friendly and we sommer felt at home. As we offloaded and did some minor adjustments to our steeds the little farmers boy approached me with a pellet gun and a pigeon in his hand........this is MOS the life we are all supposed to live.....freedom to be. I was astonished. its like when we were children. I seriously love the farm life.
This is MOS Freedom
What catched me the most of this farmers out here between nowhere is their faith, before we started to eat the farmer asked us to all stand around the dining room and hold hands for saying grace, all of us, mother sister father and all the RASA Shufflers. Now this is how its supposed to be in the normal life. Even the plate mats had some messages on them.

This one was my favorite

And then we all had lekker koffie and went to sleep, lekka warm blankies on our beds.
Until tomorrow. Lekka doeks.
